Washington County, in coordination with the Cities of Mahtomedi and Pine Springs, is planning highway improvements to Hilton Trail (County Highway 29) from 62nd Street to Stillwater Road (County Highway 12). The project, set to begin in July, will improve the existing pavement along the corridor.
This pavement rehabilitation project will consist of a thin overlay, followed by the installation of new pavement striping. After the thin overlay is applied, it is normal to see cracks in the new pavement the following spring.
It is Washington County's intent to reconstruct Hilton Trail in the near future, approximately five to seven years. This future reconstruction project will include public involvement with residents that live near Hilton Trail. During this public involvement, the county will work closely with residents to evaluate the need for turn lane and intersection improvements, pedestrian accommodations, roadway drainage, surface water management, as well as reconstructing the pavement.
