Current adjustments to city operations including closures, cancellations, and city services are outlined below.

On April 8, 2020, Governor Walz issued Executive Order 20-33, which extended his directive for Minnesotans to Stay at Home through May 3, 2020. This Executive Order codified previous clarifications issued by the Governor and made several modifications to the categories of exempted workers originally included in Executive Order 20-20. This document is a summary of significant modifications made to each affected category and is intended as a brief overview. For the full scope of Critical Sector workers in Executive Order 20-33, please refer to the Order itself and the Executive Order 20-33 Critical Sector Descriptions document, which may be amended from time to time. Please note that the words “workers” and “personnel” are broadly defined to include owners, proprietors, employees, contractors, vendors, volunteers, and interns.

Playgrounds, Parks & Trails
Following guidance from state health officials, the City of Mahtomedi has closed all playgrounds to limit the potential for community transmission of COVID-19.
Here are a couple of health and safety reminders for park use during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
- Please stay off play equipment, as these structures cannot be properly sanitized
- Practice social distancing. The CDC’s minimum recommended distance is six feet from other people. Keep your distance as you walk, bike, or hike, and don’t gather in groups.

Governor Walz issues an executive order directing Minnesotans to stay at home, starting March 27 – April 10th
There are exceptions for those preforming critical tasks. Read the full order
Residents should stay home except for the following:
- Health and safety activities, such as obtaining emergency services or medical supplies
- Outdoor activities, such as walking, hiking, running, biking, hunting or fishing
- Necessary Supplies and Services, such as getting groceries, gasoline or carry-out
- Essential and interstate travel, such as returning to a home from outside this state
- Care of others, such as caring for a family member, friend, or pet in another household
- Displacement, such as moving between emergency shelters if you are without a home
- Relocation to ensure safety, such as relocating to a different location if your home has been unsafe due to domestic violence, sanitation or essential operations reasons
Essential Services Remain Available Amid Closure
During this difficult time, the City of Mahtomedi has enacted a business continuity plan to ensure that essential city services continue to be available to residents
The city asks for the public’s patience and understanding of this action. Essential city services will continue without interruption. City employees will be available by telephone at 651-426-3344 and email during the facility closure.

REMINDER: While our parks remain open, the restrooms and playgrounds are closed.
Help prevent sewer backups
Due to COVID-19, there has been a shortage of toilet paper on store shelves. This may cause people to look for alternative products such as facial tissues, paper towels, baby wipes, flushable wipes, and other similar items. These products do not break down like toilet paper and can cause sanitary sewer backups, which in turn can cause additional public health concerns. Please prevent sewer backups and do not flush products other than toilet paper down the toilet.

City facilities are closed to the public through May 3, 2020. This includes the fire station, the public works facility and City Hall.
Meetings
Advisory commission meetings will be canceled through May 3, 2020. Council meetings will be held per the regular schedule.
