Water Restrictions New (IMAGE)

The MN DNR has recommended that municipalities elevate their water restrictions due to state-wide drought warning phase.

With more than 70 percent of Minnesota experiencing severe drought and many areas experiencing extreme drought, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is requiring local water

suppliers to reduce water use in their communities.  For more information on the state-wide drought please visit: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/climate/drought/index.html

The City of Mahtomedi’s new lawn-watering restrictions are effective immediately!

New Temporary Lawn-Watering Restrictions in Mahtomedi:

  • If your address is even, you can only water on Monday and Thursday.
  • If your address is odd, you can only water on Tuesday and Friday
  • Homeowners associations must follow the same restrictions as residential properties.
  • Commercial properties can only water grass on Wednesday.
  • NO watering on Weekends!

The regular 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. time-of-day restriction will remain in effect.

This restriction does not apply to activities such as washing your vehicle.

Irrigation controllers

If you have an irrigation controller, it should be reprogrammed to water on the new day(s) or use the manual setting to operate the system on the appropriate day.

The new lawn-watering restrictions could be elevated further in the coming days should drought conditions continue to grow in severity.
