Project Update
- Surcharge on CSAH 12 near Birchwood Rd and Lincoltown Rd to prep the underlying soil for construction of turn lanes. This additional load is built to a height of 2-ft above the finish grade of the road and accelerates the consolidation (compression) of the ground surface. The need for a surcharge was determined though a geotechnical exploration. The surcharge is expected to be in -place for 45 days, however, the exact time will depend on the actual settlement.
- The surcharges on both sides of the road creates a narrow drive area that allows the passage of construction traffic, but does not enable two-way traffic. Utility relocations in the surcharge area further limits the ability to maintain safe traffic movements.
- An existing culvert, crossing County Highway 12 at the north end of Lost Lake, will be replaced as a part of this project. The new culvert measures approximately 11.5 feet in length by 7 feet in height (similar to that shown in this photo). The culvert spans 80-ft and is constructed in two 40 feet sections weighing 8,000 pounds each. The size of the culvert requires an excavation nearly 10 feet deep by 40 feet wide.
- Advance notice of the full closure will be provided via road signage, the project website, and social media. To sign up for construction updates, visit the project website at www.co.washington.mn.us/wildwoodroad
