[ARCHIVED] Fog Sealing Begins Wednesday, July 13th

The fog sealing process will occur on one side of the street at a time and can take up to three hours to dry completely.

Residents and businesses located along streets being improved are asked to refrain from the use of sprinklers on the day of the fog seal and to avoid parking on any posted road.

We ask residents to avoid driving on the streets that have been freshly fog sealed until the fog seal has had the proper time to cure. Curing times vary depending on the air temperature, level of shade and sun exposure.  The drying process can take anywhere from one to three hours.

Fresh fog seal oil will transfer onto vehicles and concrete driveways and will require professionals to remove any transfer.  The best way to avoid transfer is to refrain from driving on the street until it is completely cured.  In the event you need to drive on a street that has been freshly sealed please do the following:

  1. Follow the directions of the traffic control crew and feel free to ask for direction from one of the crew if you are unsure.
  2. If there is not a traffic control crew member available drive SLOW and with extreme caution.
  3. If you have a concrete driveway DO NOT drive through fresh oil and into your driveway as the product WILL transfer to the concrete and is VERY difficult to remove, it is always best to park your vehicle on an adjacent street until fog seal is fully cured.
