Do you have an old mattress in the garage you would like to dispose of, but don’t know what to do with it?
The City of Mahtomedi has received a grant from Washington County to cover the cost of a curbside collection program to pick up and dispose of old mattresses.
The program is contracted through Second Chance Recycling who will provide curbside pick-up of mattresses, box springs and metal bed frames.
The pick-up dates are Tuesday, September 5th, Friday, September 8th, Tuesday, September 12th, and Friday, September 15th.
If you have a mattress to pick up, residents will need to do the following:
1. Go to Second Chance Recycling website at https://www.secondchancerecyclingmn.com and click on “Curbside Collection Program” to schedule your pick-up for one of the above dates in
September only. Scheduling options for Mahtomedi residents will start on August 28th.
2. Mattress needs to be outside by 9 a.m. and will be picked up by 3 p.m.
3. Do not put mattress by the street. It is suggested to lean against the garage or leave in the driveway to avoid waste hauler from picking it up.
There is no limit to the number of mattresses for pick-up.
If you live in a multifamily or apartment complex, coordinate with your property manager for a pick-up.
There is no charge for this program since it is covered by grant funds.
